Background magazine review transcript EDERA: And Mouth Disappears (2005, 51:31, MaRaCash Records MRC 009) A lot of people think that only the long progressive rock songs are worth listening. But that’s certainly not true. The Italian band Edera proves this on their new concept album “And Mouth Disappears”. The album contains 19 tracks and most of them are only two or three minutes long. But still they are capable to include wonderful prog music in so little time available. Most of all the lead vocals are very strong and are sung with a lot of emotions. Somtimes they reminded me of Angelo Branduardi. It was very difficult for me to compare this great music with well known names. But the music had certain elements which reminded me of bands such as Twelfth Night, IQ and Genesis. Other people who did hear the album probably would have mentioned some other names. But names not always say enough about the music. The most important of all is that Edera made a very strong concept album. Maybe a little bit too short. But who cares. **** (Henri Strik) |
